The One-Eyed Jack

Red State, Hot Air and the Moderate Voice comment on Senator Pete Domenici's (R-New Mexico) desire to change course in Iraq. Hot Air wonders whether there may soon be enough votes to override a veto.

Meanwhile, al-Qaeda possibly sensing victory is exhorting its adherents to greater efforts. Perhaps the fact the apparently large medical representation in al-Qaeda's ranks accounts for the distinctly opthamological exhortation of Al-Qaeda’s No. 2 leader, Ayman Al-Zawahri, who has issued a new video telling Muslims that if they are not ready for jihad that "May Allah pluck your eye out" according to a report by the Boston Herald. Maybe the reason they call the Jihad an example of "asymmetrical warfare" is that the degrees of determination to win are so imbalanced.

Nothing follows

Sometimes I really want to just bury my head in the sand. Poor choice of images, I know.

After the 2006 elections, it was a done deal that Dems would eventually force a withdrawal. GWB just sealed the deal when he chose open borders and amnesty over Iraq.

But then, what? Will AQ stop attacking us? No. So then ... what?

Likely a Jacksonian revolt after another series of unanswered atrocities and cringing apologies for making AQ "mad" etc.

Sometimes, God help me, I just wish it would start. Get on with it, you know? It's the hellish version of getting rid of the old used car because of the constant repair costs and replacing it with the brand new one which promptly doubles your annual cost of transportation......but you just can't stand being nickel and dimed to death.

Iraq is turning out to be a reversal of fortunes, not because of the fighting in the streets, but rather the idiocy of the softies back home.

But it is one battle in the Long War. Whether Democrats win the Presidency or a weak, soft Republican, I, and my fellow warriors will fight regardless of who's in power.

It's just a question of whether I have to wait (again) for the first punch, or whether I can the melee now.

I can just see AQ-associated movements spazzing out on the day Hillary gets elected. And we'll dither for a time--perhaps launch a few cruise missiles. And then we'll get socked again. Hopefully my cohort will be able to fight then.

Why don't we just sit around and bitch about it.

Seriously, what are you going to do about it? Probably nothing.

Good ole New Mexico Pete wants out of Iraq. Here in New Mexico he comes on TV exhorting the values of helping the Goodwill business by donating and employing those who are in need. Pete wears clothes and gestures as if he is in fact working at Goodwill...our Senator looks tired, yet his bank account is rich--go figure!

My narcissistic brothers and sisters of this "do you own thing" generation just can't leave the stage, even when the play has long been over.

Wednesday night, on public television, they had the July 4th government presentation. In the front row was an injured warrior who had half his skill crushed on the right side, his hair line a dramatic signal to his sacrifices!

When our fellow citizens place their lives on the line for our country, our country should back them up with every thing we have and then some. Half his head smashed inward!

Religion of Peace...I don't think so. 13th Century men who can't live in today's world...I think so! Little big men who place belts of death on younger boys and even girls...

Yea, Pete can say he's left the war effort, count his money, receive more plaques of appreciation...but does he have any, I repeat, any family members who fight in uniform with those who just may come back with half their body intact? Or not come back at all!

Some goodwill Pete spreads around here and elsewhere. He can't even muster up the courage to lead the fight from his state on this immigration debacle. Small man with small thoughts, nothing more than a follower.

I thought our senators were to be leaders. Silly me!

Right, Smitten Eagle.

We wait.
aQ hides.
The Softies give aQ cover.
Somehow, aQ never strikes at the Softies...just the regular people.

The Wall Stret Journal points to an AP piece on the London terror doctors, which refuses to mention (or is unaware of) the fact that they are all muslims:

David Rising of the Associated Press does some digging into the backgrounds of the men allegedly behind the weekend's foiled terror plots:

They had diverse backgrounds, coming from countries around the globe, but all shared youth and worked in medicine. They also had a common goal, authorities suspect: to bring havoc and death to the heart of Britain.

The eight people held Tuesday in the failed car bombing plot include one doctor from Iraq and two from India. There is a physician from Lebanon and a Jordanian doctor and his medical assistant wife. Another doctor and a medical student are thought to be from the Middle East. . . .

"To think that these guys were a sleeper cell and somehow were able to plan this operation from the different places they were, and then orchestrate being hired by the NHS so they could get to the UK, then get jobs in the same area--I think that's a planning impossibility," said Bob Ayres, a former U.S. intelligence officer now at London's Chatham House think tank.

"A much more likely scenario is they were here together, they discovered that they shared some common ideology, and then they decided to act on this while here in the UK," he said.

Although the project failed in its ultimate goal, no doubt there are lessons here for the corporate world in how to bring diverse people together in a common purpose.

US concerns over China weapons in Iraq

By Demetri Sevastopulo in Washington

Published: July 6 2007 22:01 | Last updated: July 6 2007 22:01

The US has raised concerns with the Chinese government about the discovery of Chinese-made weapons in Iraq and Afghanistan.

Hey - look on the bright side, our Congressional solution to the Vietnam War meant that the North Vietnamese stopped attacking US, cuz we weren't there anymore. But, it didn't stop the Russians (Afghanistan) and the Cubans (southern Africa, Latin America) and the Mullahs in Iran and all our other enemies everywhere from attacking us. In fact, a close reading of the recent history of the 70's and 80's will show that our surrender to our North Vietnamese enemies in Congress sorta encouraged ALL our enemies (Commies in that time, Islamists now), it seems it turned out bad, I mean, just from History 'n all.

And then along came Ronaldus Star Warius.
