Hoist by our petard

Rusty Shackleford says the Taliban continues to operate its websites out of a service headquartered in Atlanta. Shackleford has emailed to alert them and hopes they take notice soon. "Most companies suspend the accounts of terrorists when brought to their attention. Good business practices dictate that no company ought to help facilitate terrorism, and most firms are more than willing to take down websites which help the jihadi cause."

you would think that NSA would mess with the Jihadis internet stuff, just because they could, or would that violate their first amendment rights.

I'm sure a lawyer at the CIA intervened and made sure the jihadi sites stayed up.

Don't want to infringe on Taliban First Amendment protections or anything.

I suspect this is a case where NSA and others have determined the leads we get from monitoring the site and the traffic to it outweighs the communications benefit to the enemy. And yes, that is a pious hope.
