La Vida Loca

Fausta comments on who Hillary Clinton is pals with in the "Hispanic" community these days. Antonio Villaraigosa, Bob Menendez and Henry Cisneros. Then again a politician can't be too picky when it comes to friends, as Captain Ed points out in his article about Hillary and Mauricio Celis, or else the politician might not have any. And who knew that Barack Obama's church gave awards describing Louis Farrakhan a man that "truly epitomized greatness"? Richard Cohen at the Washington Post, that's who.

What kind of world is it when a liberal blog accuses the Washington Post of "swiftboating" Obama? How do we make sense of a world in which Hillary hangs out with Three Amigos who resemble Los Tres Bandidos and where a Christian church gives out awards to the head of the Nation of Islam? Answer: any foxhole that's vacant; any port in a storm. Nothing needs to make sense in the madness of an all-out conflict. The American Thinker believes that a party which stocked its powder magazines with the ammunition of race war should be very careful when lighting matches. But that advice comes too late. And now the Democrats may get a momentary glimpse of that vast explosive power in the glimmer of that match before everything turns white and goes black. Bad choice of words. But Eugene Robinson at the Washington Post makes exactly the same point in another way. "It was never realistic to think that race -- or gender, for that matter -- would stay out of a contest starring the first woman and the first African American with realistic hopes of becoming president."

Therefore Robinson suggests tearing apart the coalition now then putting it back together to face the Republicans rather than go through a trial of fire in November. "From the Democrats' perspective, it's probably better to hash all this out now rather than wait until the general election campaign, when the Republican Swift-boat machine would set the parameters and tone for the discussion." But what Hillary's sudden affinity for "Hispanics" may suggest is that she's resigned herself to losing a large part of the black vote already. Robinson understands this and writes, "the Clintons are reading the polls, too; they might well be resigned to the possibility that most black Democrats will vote for Obama. This would mean that South Carolina is probably already lost and that the campaign's focus now has to be on Florida and the many states whose delegates are up for grabs on 'Tsunami Tuesday'". In which case Hillary is not only willing to call Obama but raise him; willing not only to fight a race war but expand it by bringing in the Amigos. The focus is on Florida? Es muy interesante, si?

What a strange position for the wife of America's First Black President to be in. Or maybe not.

Good to see some attention paid to Barry's "Christian" Church instead of the lifeless Muslim issue.
The Preacher himself has said he would sink Barry's chances if he was involved in the campaign.

Trying to piece together the nature of someone's relationship with his Lord through this sort of back-door, ugly witch hunt?

I can only beg of you not to indulge in this sort of judgement.

doug did you ever spend time in a church where you kinda sorta didn't like some of the things the pastor was doing? Maybe you like 60% of the message while the other 40% made you a tad uncomfortable? Or maybe you know some Catholics who are horrified by what their Priests did?

No, can't say I ever went to a Church that was openly racist and Anti-Semitic, so I guess I'm not qualified to comment.

“Born to Raise Hell”

Antonio Villaraigosa (then, Tony Villar) leading a protest to include the Communist organization
"Committee to Free Los Tres" on the Steering Committee of the Chicano Studies Center. UCLA campus, May 23, 1974.

Antonio Villaraigosa, a one-time juvenile delinquent still tattooed with the slogan “Born to Raise Hell,” entered the UCLA campus as a transfer student from East Los Angeles Community College in 1972. Known then simply as Tony Villar, he would not successfully graduate by the time he left in 1975.(1) But Villar did leave a wide swath of influence in other, more radical ways.

While on campus, Villar joined the UCLA chapter of Movimiento Estudiantil Chicano de Aztlan (MEChA), and was part of its leadership by 1974. MEChA had only been founded as a regional movement in 1969, and in many ways, the UCLA chapter, and the radical Chicano student left today, is a direct product of Villar’s work then.

Fellow MEChA alumni from the period remember Villaraigosa’s exploits well:
"He was one of the guys that would go out there and start the slogans because he was the loudest one," said Arturo Chavez, a fellow activist in college. "He was one of the people who would make sure people were riled up."

Chavez underemphasizes what young Tony Villar did on the UCLA campus. Archives from the campus newspaper The Daily Bruin of 1974 have revealed that Villar led a campaign to ensure an advisory role in the UCLA Chicano Studies Center for a communist Chicano community group, and successfully engineered the dismissal of the Chicano director of the Center who stood in the way of this goal.

Antonio Villaraigosa has charmed his way into power, and now seeks to become the first Latino mayor of Los Angeles since the 19th century.
But will Villaraigosa win if voters understand that the one-time Tony Villar is an unreconstructed MEChista, dedicated to the goals of Aztlan liberation, whose radical past at UCLA informs his thoughts and actions today?

PJM's Burt Prelutsky is all over it

I saw something about the Church last year. I went to its web site and read some of the things there. If Obama gets the nomination, it will become an issue. You would think that he could have solved the problem last year by switching Churches.

Hillary, if she winds up in enough trouble, will play this card too.

El Plan Espiritual

“Aztlan [the Southwestern United States] belongs to those who plant the seeds, water the fields, and gathers the crops and not to the foreign Europeans. We do not recognize capricious frontiers on the bronze continent. Brotherhood unites us, and love for our brothers makes us a people whose time has come and who struggles against the foreigner “gabacho” who exploits our riches and destroys our culture. …

Por La Raza todo. Fuera de La Raza nada.” [For those of the Hispanic race, everything. For those outside the Hispanic race, nothing.]

Under Organizational Goals, El Plan Espiritual continues: “economic control of our lives and our communities can only come about by driving the exploiter out of our communities, our pueblos and our lands. … Lands rightfully ours will be fought for and defended.”

Under the “Self-Defense” section, El Plan Espiritual proclaims “For the very young there will no longer be acts of juvenile delinquency, but revolutionary acts.”
El Plan Espiritual finishes “El Plan de Aztlan is the plan of liberation!”
The Philosophy of MEChA sums up the goals out El Plan Espiritual thusly:

“1) We are Chicanas and Chicanos of Aztlán reclaiming the land of our birth (Chicana/Chicano Nation);
2) Aztlán belongs to indigenous people, who are sovereign and not subject to a foreign culture;
3) We are a union of free pueblos forming a bronze (Chicana/Chicano) Nation.”

Mayor Tony is known for:

Screwing the wife of then best-friend and campaign manager. The wife was also godmother of his kids.

Mayor Tony's wife briefly left him, then reconciled.

More recently Mayor Tony was found to be having an affair with a Telemundo reporter. And rumors of a liason with a Korean national developer in LA. And numerous lobbyists.

In other words, a guy just like Bill!

Ben Nelson, Barack and a Disregard of Principle

Ben Nelson’s rationale for endorsing the most radically left-wing candidate ever to seek the presidency is that Obama can “unite the country” and “end the poisonous partisan atmosphere” in Washington. Well. I almost don’t know how to respond to that.

Yes, I do.

A few years ago, having failed to pass a partial birth abortion ban that would not be struck down by the courts, state and federal government was wrestling with the issue of at least protecting babies who were born alive during an abortion. In 2002, the United States Senate passed legislation providing such protection. The vote was 98-0.

Barack Obama was serving in the Illinois State Senate at the time. When similar legislation came before that body, Obama opposed it. This great uniter of the country, this paragon of virtue who Ben Nelson believes will end the poisonous partisan atmosphere in Washington, could not even find it in his hardened heart to offer protection to a baby who somehow manages to survive an abortionist’s attempt to end his or her life.

Do you realize the ramifications of such a position? Barack Obama, candidate for president of the United States, favors allowing abortionists to kill babies after they have been born alive!

Doug, I was going to comment on the political future of Mayor Villaraigosa, and why he's supporting Mrs. Bill Clinton.

I don't think he has one.

White voters are turned off by his demonstrated preferences for protecting and giving his illegal brethren any damned thing they ask for in LA government, while Latino voters are turned off by his flagrant womanizing and lying about it.

I really don't see either the Asians or the Blacks getting together to support him because why should they? Tony is Hillary's friend right now because, literally, he has no one else to talk to in the city of Los Angeles, nor the state of California. I wonder if she hablo's the Espanol.
