The Tucker-Menchaca Beheading

The Jawa Report has stills from an al-Qaeda released video purporting to show the beheading of Kristian Menchaca and Thomas Tucker. "One of the two soldiers appear to have been shot, the other has multiple wounds but appears to have also been hit by an explosive."

They're still hidin', right? So manly that they must hide like women. We should really surrender to them right now, but they're hiding.

I'm speculating, but the two men may have been dead or dying long before being taken to this place. If they had been shot or shown signs of being blown up, then they may have been killed in action. They were insensible to what happened next. That would be a comfort to know.

Why not have a virtual surrender?
Our guys come to the table and sign in front of their empty seats.

Then we just wait for them to pick it up to sign in secret!

Now a Question for the Geeks
Regarding DDOS attacks and Blogger:
Won't happen, of course, but if Wretch was to suffer a DDOS attack, how does blogger's distributed architecture deal with it?
...and how do the folks deal with it?

---
"After the latest big DDOS attack–and especially with the frequent ones on mu.nu
N.Z. Bear is working on a way to fight these idiots.
The challenge is this:
how could we establish a system so that a blogger suffering a DDOS attack (or simple system downtime, even) could be guaranteed a way to post during their outage. The key part would be setting up a way for member blogs to ‘host’ a downed blogger’s posts.
It seems to me that there are two categories of bloggers that matter here:
those that are on limited / controlled hosts such as Blogspot (who therefore can’t run server-side scripts, but can generally include Javascript code) and those who have full hosts (who can run PHP or other server-side scripts).

There is of course the stated possibility that this is a revenge killing for the raped murdered girl and her family. These soldiers were not those responsible. The people that killed them knew that.

The viewing of these pictures can serve two purposes. For the American troops; do not get captured or surrender. And to the Americans that have any illusion about Islam being a religion of peace, look at this. I cannot know the number, but it is safe to say that a poll would show a high number of Arabs would approve of this.

War does this. Hate does this. Islam is a religion of war and hate. It is the Klan of religions, a festering stain on goodness, fairness and normal accepted civilized human behaviour. This is the true unvarnished face of Islam.

I don't want revenge. I do not want to help these people. I do not want them around me or in my country. I do not want to do anything but leave them alone and when they strike at us, punish them in a fashion that will ensure they never get a second opportunity to strike us again. And Goddamn anyone that gets in our way.

One of the reasons why discipline is so essential in war is that it must subordinate the very basic human urge for revenge to policy. It's true this is the face of war; and we keep it from the sight of our children and civilians because it is the face of the devil. The only way civilizations face the devil is to treat war in an impersonal manner, so that you can joke about it afterward. Looked full in the face it is as unbearable as the Gorgon. The vocabulary of euphemism and ceremony grown up around it is the way we preserve our humanity and sanity in the presence of its countenance.

You really wonder what people like certain leftist academics would be capable of if they had unlimited power over their enemies, in the way that US soldiers in Iraq do when on operation. Think of it: you have machineguns, artillery, air at your command. Just pull the trigger and the trigger is the closest thing at hand. What you can do with that is several orders of magnitude greater than the power of enemy "swords". But you don't do it because it's contrary to orders and besides, commanders must use their heads and not their emotions. The last of the seven deadly sins is Wrath. We aspire to be its master. The enemy desires to be its servant.

Watched "Gettysburg" over the 4th, naturally. Can't really call it "watched" as endured, the inexorable grinding of deadly forces, the lives of men like excreta from a spreadsheet, and still, it went on.

Still, at that time, soldiers treated civilians as free, unmolested citizens. Johnny Reb sure 'nuf had his fill of feed and sustenance, but rape and murder was far beyond the pale.

Every time enemies have declared their desire to fight to their death against America, we have met them with technologies and men who meet and defeat suiciders. It's terrible, it's worse than terrible, but all the world knows we'd rather wage capitalism than war.

Why don't they stick with capitalism? The Arabs, for example, have all that oil. Aren't they in the catbird seat? Whence this suicidal war against the future, or the present as it exists in most places?

If free money ain't good enough, what's it gonna take to make these guys happy?

The New Caliphate is a non-starter.
They must know that, right?

Anyone should have very deep feelings about the treatment of these two Warriors.

But don't go down the dark path, don't let your anger and hatred take your soul.

Because it will, and it's so hard to get back to the light...

As horrible as these acts were, leveling cities as revenge does no service to the brave young men.

Innocent people were being murdered wholesale in Iraq. We went in to put a stop to it. It's just that simple.

Nobody promised it would be easy, simple or sterile. The military & the individual soldier know what they are up against. That's why they are so committed.

Furthermore, the conviction of a handful of soldiers who may or may not have violated ROE's & stained their unit, regiment, etc. is not an act of revenge for the thousands of innocent lives still being lost in Iraq. The Iraqis need to know that & hear that. The MSM needs to know & hear that.

Those soldiers may have committed crimes & they need to be held to account. But they are not responsible for the deaths of hundreds of innocent Iraqis. Al Queda, Sunni "resistance fighters", Shia militia, Iranian & Syrian operatives, etc share that blame. Let's make sure they are held to account as well.

What makes this hard is the fact that our men that die over there are better than the cause (and the people) they died for.

Has this always been true, or is this something unusual?

Here is how you defeat a DDOS - you hammer the originating ISPs right back.

The large hosting sites need to stop being passive about crap like this.

With today's VM technology - whole server farms could be rezoned during the evening into script zombies and used to hammer all the servers and network devices in the originating ISPs.

After reading her adolescent excrement, I figured she was almost unique in that regard, and was relieved to see that she lost her job.
Wrong again. No doubt she'll be hired as a hero somewhere else.

They don't believe in capitalism. They don't believe in working. They believe in taking. Read MacKey's The Saudis for a description of the Arab/Saudi/Beduin culture and how work is not part of it.

They do believe in honor and revenge.

Most of the Jihadis don't have any access to oil money. The Muslim Brotherhood, the granddaddy of all the terrorist orgs is from Egypt, which has no oil. Those that have the oil don't give very much of it to anyone else. The Jihadis hate those with the oil money as much as they hate us.

The New Caliphate is a non-starter. They must know that, right?

The Jihadi slogan is "Victory or death." They believe that they will be rewarded in Heaven. Success on earth doesn't seem to be required.

Oh, they get it, fred.

That is the whole point of the matter, they got it exactly as it was presented.
There is no International War, the case, it's been presented and decided.
If ever there has been a group that "understood" what they were "about" and "doing" it's the Supremes.
That anyone is surprised or shocked by their decisions, that is what is so hard to "get".
Their pattern of behaviour is clear.

According to News Channel 3, in Memphis, there is breaking news.

Seems that the FBI is investigating this deadly threat to civilized society

"... The video shows the man purchasing a Quran at a bookstore, going to a wooded area and shooting the book, then throwing it on the ground outside the door of the Chattanooga Islamic center. ..."

The Federals have not yet announced how many agents will be assigned to the Koran shooting case, but a Task Force may soon be garrisoned at Graceland, for the duration.

Tony, it requires a mindset, not just money to do capitalism. It requires a host of institutions like respect for property rights, an independent judiciary, a transparent banking system, respect for contracts and other laws about incorporation, and a preference for economic competition rather than for poltical favors that would grant you a quasi-monopoly. A spirit of optimism and reverence for entrepreneurs and underdogs helps to. Most of those things are sorely lacking in the oil-rich countries.

The more pragmatic of the rulers in this part of the world know that and are trying to do something about it. that is why there are so many US and UK expats here and why they are setting up American and British universities here and not French or German or Spanish or Chinese ones. They do know, as you say, that the New Caliphate is a non-starter. That doesn't mean that they exactly know how to construct the alternative or even to begin.

From "Nothing But Praise" by Lt. Henry G. Lee.

"Prayer Before Battle (To Mars)"
(December 8, 1941)

Before thine ancient altar, God of War,
Forlorn, afraid, alone, I kneel to pray.
The gentle shepherd whom I would adore,
Faced by thy blazing plaything, slips away.
And I am drained of faith -- alone -- alone.
Who now needs faith to face thy out thrust sword,
Bereft of hope, turned to pagan to the bone.
I kneel to thee and hail thee as my Lord.
From such a God as thee, I ask not life,
My life is forfeited, the hour is late.
Thou need not swerve the bullet, dull the knife.
I ask but strength to ride the wave of fate.
And one thing more -- to validate this strife,
And my own sacrifice -- teach me to hate.

"Three Years After"
(December 8, 1944)

"Teach me to hate," I prayed -- for I was young,
And fear was in my heart, and faith had fled.
"Teach me to hate! for hate is strength," I said
"A staff to lean on." Thus my challenge flung
Into the thunder of the clouds that hung
Cloaking with terror all the days ahead --
"Teach me to hate -- the world I loved is dead;
Who would survive must learn a savage tongue."

And I have learned -- and paid in days that ran
To bitter schooling. Love was lost in pains,
Hunger replaced the beauty in life's plan,
Honor and virtue vanished with the rains
And faith in God dissolved with faith in man.
I have my hate! But nothing else remains.

The cowards and thugs are working hard to turn their small advantage (retrieval of two fresh American corpses) into a major coup ("We avenged their rape of an Iraqi girl!")

Like Haditha, probably a setup for which they were in NO WAY culpable, but that doesn't matter to the enemies of America, foreign or domestic!

My name's Arturo Menchaca and Kristian is my cousin. For all you dumbasses that claim righteous religions and worthy politics, you all make me sick. My cousin died in vain. I don't agree with war no matter what, especially that which lies on the opposite side of the spectrum: God. God is not a reason to fight, greed is not a reason to win, and death is not a reason to mourn. I lost a cousin, and this country doesn't care. I'm still a dirty Mexican that can barely go into CPK without being told to hurry up and clean the corner table, its absurd. I urged my cousin not to join, I urged him to realize that this fight is not among us, but among true Americans, and we are not true Americans. This country will never let us be true Americans. Not even when we fight and die for them. May he rest in peace.
