Osama Bin Laden's Message to America
Here's a link to the transcript of Osama Bin Laden's message to the American people. Two things stand out. The first is his claim to victory in a theater (Iraq) where by all accounts his forces have been worsted and the only insurgent force with a plausible claim to victory is not al-Qaeda's but Iran's. Secondly, his talking points, with their references to the Global Warming, taxes, Noam Chomsky, etc. almost seem to suggest an inversion. It's almost as if Osama the Muslim, not the infidel, has converted. From the tone of his remarks, Osama no longer speaks to the American people as the potentate of an unstoppable international apocalyptic movement, but rather as someone, who if you were ignorant of his true identity, might just as well be a spokesman for the Muslim wing of a Western political party.
Does that mean Osama has joined "us" or does it mean that some of "us" have joined Osama?

I could only stomach a page of it, but from your description, whoever wrote it is appealing to Western leftists' world views. He's attempting to focus the force of Islamists' most promising alley like a hammer and chisel to crack our weak point - public support for the War on Terror in Iraq.

People of America: the world is following your news in regards to your invasion of Iraq, for people
have recently come to know that, after several years of the tragedies of this war, the vast majority of you want it stopped. Thus, you elected the Democratic Party for this purpose, but the Democrats haven’t made a move worth mentioning. On the contrary, they continue to agree to the spending of tens of billions to continue the killing and war there, which has led to the vast majority of you being afflicted with disappointment.
And here is the gist of the matter, so one should pause, think and reflect: why have the Democrats
failed to stop this war, despite them being the majority?
I will come back to reply to this question after raising another question, which is:
Why are the leaders of the White House keen to start wars and wage them around the world, and
make use of every possible opportunity through which they can reach this purpose, occasionally
even creating justifications based on deception and blatant lies, as you saw Iraq?
In the Vietnam War, the leaders of the White House claimed at the time that it was a necessary and
crucial war, and during it, Rumsfeld and his aides murdered two million villagers. And when Kennedy
took over the presidency and deviated from the general line of policy drawn up for the White House
and wanted to stop this unjust war, that angered the owners of the major corporations who were
benefiting from its continuation.
And so Kennedy was killed, and al-Qaida wasn’t present at that time, but rather, those corporations
were the primary beneficiary from his killing. And the war continued after that for approximately
one decade. But after it became clear to you that it was an unjust and unnecessary war, you made
one of your greatest mistakes, in that you neither brought to account nor punished those who waged
this war, not even the most violent of its murderers, Rumsfeld. And even more incredible than that
is that Bush picked him as secretary of defense in his first term after picking Cheney as his vicepresident,
Powell as secretary of state and Armitage as Powell's deputy, despite their horrific and
blood history of murdering humans. So that was clear signal that his administration - the
administration of the generals- didn't have as its main concern the serving of humanity, but rather,
was interested in bringing about new massacres. Yet in spite of that, you permitted Bush to
complete his first term, and stranger still, chose him for a second term, which gave him a clear
mandate from you - with your full knowledge and consent- to continue to murder our people in Iraq
and Afghanistan.
Then you claim to be innocent! This innocence of yours is like my innocence of the blood of your
sons on the 11th - were I to claim such a thing. But it is impossible for me to humor any of you in
the arrogance and indifference you show for the lives of humans outside America, or for me to
humor your leaders in their lying, as the entire world knows they have the lion's share of that.
These morals aren't our morals. What I want to emphasize here is that not taking past war
criminals to account led to them repeating that crime of killing humanity without right and waging
this unjust war in Mesopotamia, and as a result, here are the oppressed ones today continuing to
take their right from you.
This war was entirely unnecessary, as testified to by your own reports. And among the most
capable of those from your own side who speak to you on this topic and on the manufacturing of
public opinion is Noam Chomsky, who spoke sober words of advice prior to the war, but the leader of
Texas doesn't like those who give advice. The entire world came out in unprecedented
demonstrations to warn against waging the war and describe its true nature in eloquent terms like
"no to spilling red blood for black oil," yet he paid them no heed. It is time for humankind to know
that talk of the rights of man and freedom are lies produced by the White House and its allies in
Europe to deceive humans, take control of their destinies and subjugate them.
So in answer to the question about the causes of the Democrats' failure to stop the war, I say: they
are the same reasons which led to the failure of former president Kennedy to stop the Vietnam war.
Those with real power and influence are those with the most capital. And since the democratic
system permits major corporations to back candidates, be they presidential or congressional, there
shouldn't be any cause for astonishment - and there isn't any- in the Democrats' failure to stop the
war. And you're the ones who have the saying which goes, "Money talks." And I tell you: after the
failure of your representatives in the Democratic Party to implement your desire to stop the war, you
can still carry anti-war placards and spread out in the streets of major cities, then go back to your
homes, but that will be of no use and will lead to the prolonging of the war.

Stomach churn or not, it is instructive to read the whole bit.
A blend of conspiracy theory, ignorance*, and malice that is well-suited for his audience in Berkeley, Seattle and a number of other places.
* Notice how he treats the term "democractic" as if it were synonymous with "capitalist".
Grant this though: he knows something about his audience and is geared to lead it by the nose.
He speaks clearly to those amongst us who are ALWAYS tripping over themselves in their haste to blurt out "mea culpa".
{The image of that weaselfuck comes to mind -- you know, the one who immediately after Bush won in 2004, flashed a pencil sketch of the world with "sorry" written in french and other languages ...remember that one?}

As I've always said: It's a good thing that Islam is a religion of peace. Can you imagine if it weren't?
Somehow, I just don't buy this being an honest, up to date presentation by Osama Bin Laden. It would seem to me such a man would have been involved more in this war than he has, especially in the propaganda area, rallying his troops, scaring the infidels, etc. Even if he has been sick, this still does not ring true for me.
Then again, maybe he is just another wuss bad guy, but if so, he hides his ugly ass well, too well for my liking.
I smell a rat here.

Why this solid color? Pavarotti just died, and he had solid black hair on his head which, as a 71 year old man from Italy, had to have help from a bottle. Why?
Image? Self concept? Narcissistic pride?
If this person is in fact Osama Bin Laden and not a great double, he gives us more clues than I will bet he ever wanted!
As to the text, perhaps he is living somewhere in the United States, in a sanctuary city, having arrived via Mexico...that would explain the solid black hair and his Democratic "talking points" too.
Senator Chuck Schumer, that self loathing Jew, should have the right answer about this.
Or maybe John Kerry, that coward who tries to be a warrior, gave Osama a boat ride from the Baja to San Diego...by passing the Seals' training facilities of course!
Maybe America is winning this war.
Osama bin Laden says, "in Egypt alone, there are millions of Christians whom we have not incinerated and shall not incinerate." As if not stuffing Copts into ovens the way Nazis incinerated Jews were an awesome achievement for Islam! Osama bin Laden damns Islam through faint praise.
As it is, I think the principal reason for the existence of al-Qaeda is that Osama bin Laden and Ayman al-Zawahiri love to listen to themselves talk and force other people to sit in on their boring sermons. The terrorist attacks are merely a means to get their mugs on camera so they can yammer on and on.
On the other hand, Noam Chomsky ought to be careful about what he says in public. If Professor Chomsky does make any flattering statement about Osama bin Laden, would anybody out there be willing to act as one of the two or more witnesses necessary to charge him with treason?

Osama OF COURSE has become part of the Global Left. He has ambitions and that process of becoming the Global Left (with what he sees is the obvious technological and economic superiority of the West) is part and parcel of achieving that ambition.
At the same time Chomsky and others like well, most Dems have ambitions. And part of that means becoming Muslim. With all the social restrictions that entails.
Not the least of which is as David Frum noted, the ability to restrict normal men from relationships with women. It's not an accident that Foucalt admired and tried to help Khomeni -- Foucalt hoped that Khomeni's Islam would overturn the Judeo-Christian monogamous society into one where sex with women was restricted to important men, and like Afghanistan or Pakistan, ordinary men if they wanted sex had to resort to other men.
This explains Queers for Palestine. Death for overt homosexual behavior in turn for making heterosexual behavior nearly impossible. As Steyn notes, in Toronto there have been less than ten takers for Gay Marriage but thousands for polygamy.
Note: a devastating attack add would be to put Democratic politicos saying things, then have Osama on tape saying the same things.

I'm in the amen corner on this. with the added provision that imho the weasel worm has turned on obl and this video reflects the enormous internal pressure that's causing him. His cousin tribes in anbar have rejected his men for marriage and turned their guns on aq. This is serious kinsmen rejection. He's not beautiful in the desert under the crescent moon.
Even still this speech is not as stupid as zarquowi blowing up prominent aq supporting Jordanians at their wedding feast.
So I think obl speech holds an especially deadly message for the saudis

A while ago I mentioned our video tech being under-utilized in the propaganda war. The black beard, the weird secularist talking points, the rambling...
I think we should at least entertain the idea that US intelligence has finally decided to dilute the brand.
I think if bin Laden found himself plunked down on the Berkeley or Duke or Dartmouth campus, and was able to observe the raging paranoia, hysteria and incompetence of the left in America, he'd change is mind on wanting them to convert to Islam.
In Islam, you have to be subservient to your leader/imam (bin Laden) and obey. Can you imagine the world's chattering class ever obeying anyone, even if they were convinced to start chanting "allah u akbar"?

Osama was rumored to be on Kidey Dialysis, if he wound up getting a kidney transplant, he would have had to be on immuno-supressants for quite a while, which would cause hair loss. The beard and hair look fake to me.

Osama was the only son of the his fathers 10th wife. His father was one of Saudi Arabia's wealthiest businessmen.
It is not unusual for children to "rebel" against their parents. The children of the rich and famous often become leftards.
The Twin Towers are symbols of capitalism, which is everything Osama's father stood for. If his Daddy wasn't so obessed with capitalism Osama's Daddy could have spent more time with him.(cry,cry...poor little rich kid)
IMHO Osama's goal is to destroy his father by destroying capitalism. The religion thing is just a way to convince gullible people to die for his cause.
Two things stand out? I think you listed # 2 and # 3. His styling new beard has to be the most impressive thing about his new blockbuster video. He should have all kinds of teenaged groupies flocking around him in no time.

That's precisely what I thought too. It's stiff as cardboard and much thicker than his real one. Unless, of course, his stylist gave him some goop to put on it to make him even more appealing to the members of his harem.
Osama bin Laden, it must be recalled, spent much of his youth in the pleasure pots of Lebanon, while war rage all around.
I suspect he has a fair knowledge of English idiom. What he lacks is any understanding of the contemptible ineffectuality of the slobbering intellectuals of the Left, who only continue to exist because of the forbearance of those they detest.
Aristides, if the intelligence agencies did this, then they run the risk of hurting their philosophical cohorts. It would be a Machiavelian enterprise with unintended consequences.
All of what y’all are saying is true – OBL was putting out the usual leftist confused claptrap – but he has done that before.
This time, though, he mentioned a bit of conservative dogma – we will have LOWER TAXES under Islamic rule. Now, you do this sort of thing for the same reason that the likes of Howard Dean and Al Gore ran away from the Gun Control Left – you will get your head handed to you if you don’t.
This was not just confused dogmatic dithering – that is the norm for these guys. This was Desperate Confused Dithering. OBL has proceeded from “You will drown in your own blood” type rhetoric to “Okay tell you what, let’s call it even and we both go home” to “And I’ll lower your taxes just like Mitt Romney.”

I think you're right, but OBL's attempt is somewhat ham-fisted (there's a joke in there even if it is lame). Al Qaeda might be better off carrying out operations supporting the Noam Chomsky narrative rather than unintentionally exposing it as the facile self-deception it is. The speech is too clever by half.
As an aside, a western intelligence agency producing a fake would more likely be interested in directing the force of the video at a muslim audience, not the west.

The tape contains around 22 minutes where the video is frozen and the audio continues. It's possible that an old (and unreleased) tape was dubbed over to create this. All of the reference to recent events occur while the video is frozen. And the audio is not in Bin Laden's style, either of delivery or of substance.

Blogger George Maschke at Boomantribune.com has spotted an intriguing bit of cutting and splicing in the latest video purported to be from Osama Bin Laden. The only evidence that the video is authentic is that Osama's presumed voice refers to recent events. But as Maschke writes,
"All references to current events, such as the 62nd anniversary of the U.S. atomic bombing of Japan, and Sarkozy and Brown being the leaders of France and the UK, respectively, occur when the video is frozen!"
Odd, isn't it? Maybe Osama has joined the worms in some cave after all, as many of us suspected. And maybe a voice-alike is doing the audio. Otherwise, why freeze the tape just at the most crucial bit of evidence?
Maschke believes that
"The audio track does appear to be in the voice of a single speaker. What I suspect was done is that an older, unreleased video was dubbed over for this release, with the video frozen when the audio track departed from that of the original video."
Well, no wonder Osama looks years younger in this tape. He's discovered the secret of eternal youth! It's like the 1989 movie A Weekend at Bernie's!
