Red State notices that one minister from Pakistan believes granting the knighthood to Salman Rushdie is justification for a suicide bombing. That remark indicates the width of the divide between people who believe they have the right to tell the West what to do and the small remnant that mistakenly believes that they still have liberty.

This just in, from a friend of my wife travelling Amtrak: her seatmates are emigrees from Sweden.
Their reason for leaving: the permission given to Muslims in Sweden (and many other Euro states) to live according to Sharia law in a parallel legal environment. The effective result of which is that rape is not a prosecutable offense. The Euros are abandoning ship in droves.

I've got news for you, Mr. Ijaz ul-Haq. Most religions other than Islam regard Islam to be inherently blasphemous. Until recently, the words "blasphemy" and "Islam" were synonymous in the West, although the word usually used for Islam was "Mohammedanism" and the word usually used for Muslim was "Mohammedan". If you truly believe that those who utter blasphemy ought to be put to death, Mr. ul-Haq, you are welcome to volunteer to let your neck fall under the sword, as your justification of suicide bombing is blasphemy against the cause of freedom.

I do not support Rushdie getting a knighthood he is not that good a writer, however I will not tolerate being told by some bloody Islamoloony who can and cannot be honoured by the Queen.

Imagine they succeed in their efforts to kill him or a sitting Senator, where it's not the act of a (believed / claimed to be) single fanatic (like the Palestinian that murdered Bobby Kennedy, or the soviet communist who took out his brother John) but an action endorsed by a the sitting heads of a sect of a religion.

It always astonishes me that when some Islamic “leader” makes such a pronouncement that it never occurs to them than the adoption of a similar mindset by we in the West would have resulted in the absolute extermination of them as a race and the removal of all traces of their religion. Their failure to do similarly is due to their own incompetence rather than our smashing them down every so often.

Kevin: A Knighthood is a lesser honour than a peerage. Usually given to Actors, Businessmen and Sports stars. A Peerage (Lord) tends these days to go to people who give Blair and the Labour party lots of money. As the recent scandal proves.

I base my understanding of Islam on the same Koran you would find in most American mosques and the biographies of Mohammed written by the most trusted biographers. For example these passages are about the slaughter of a Jewish tribe.

Point taken. In reply to your question of a democratic Muslim authority, there is one in Najaf, Iraq. He is Ayatollah Sistani, a great and extremely wise Shia scholar who belives in separation of Mosque and State.
Examples of slaughter are in the Talmud and Old Testament too. For example, what was Joshua commanded to do upon entering the promised land?
The Quraza Jews repeatedly broke treaties with the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) and stabbed him in the back, betrayed him at several critical junctures. I guess that was a "final solution" similar to the one Joshua was given.

Islam in it's extreme is more political ideology than religion. In that way, it is only a 'Religion of Peace' in that when Islam rules the planet, there will be no one to be at war with.
