Everybody loves a winner

The Prairie Pundit notices a Guardian article which claims the Pakistani Army is no longer fighting al-Qaeda.

The Pakistani army is paralysed by the growing Taliban threat and some retired officers are covertly aiding the militants, according to a former CIA officer. ... "Their approach was to pretend that nothing was wrong because any other approach would reveal that they were unwilling and unable to do anything about Talibanisation," said Mr Keller, who has visited Waziristan.

This sounds a lot like the late and unlamented Palestinian Authority and its efforts to crack down on militants. Gateway Pundit says, "The US is not getting its money's worth out of Pakistan in the fight with al Qaeda." Now who was it who said Iraq and the War on Terror were just like Vietnam, where one could walk away without suffering any long-term consequences?

Nothing follows.

"The growing Taliban Threat": Once they had a whole country to play with, with foreign aid pouring in, even from the U.S.

Today they hide in the mountains. control perhaps a village or two, and come out on occasion to get the ever lovin' daylights beat out of them. Once they had an Air Force; now they deploy forces who don't even have shoes.

The Taliban are the Titanic without the dance band or the deck chairs.

I suppose the main difference between Palestine here is that while Fatah and Hamas actually were enemies, the Pakistani government created the Taliban (at least the ISI did) so any "crack-down" may be play acting. The reality seems to be that in reality the "Hamas" faction actually controls Pakistan while the "Fatah" facade is just window dressing to keep Western arms aid coming and to evade sanctions.

It is still is all about the airplanes, aye, rwe.

No air force, no country, not a threat.

Seems American Airlines was the Taliban Airforce, in September of '01.

They have no armor either. Two idiots with a rifle sure had Mayland and DC terrorized for a while, didn't they? Notice how much crap is going on among the commuters in LA?

5GW is here and the leadership and our "protectors" are still asleep, just like 9/11.

Salaam eleikum, dang!

RWE -- read Bill Roggio's blog, where control of Pakistan is slowly but surely sliding to the Taliban and AQ. Whole provinces on the NWF have been ceded, the capital is under control of the Taliban's Red Mosque, and the nuclear facilities will be under control of the Taliban and AQ inevitably when Musharaff is killed or ousted in an Islamist coup by elements of the Army and Security Forces who are solidly Islamist (which is about 80% of both).

When bin Laden and his allies control Pakistan's nukes, kiss a few US cities good bye.

Gaza's small potatoes, but what if Pakistan falls? Time to reunite India. Launch a raid to control Pakistan's nuclear facilities and back India in an invasion of Pakistan. The Indians could put a million troops into Pakistan. Or just bomb their nuclear and military assets and let me stew in their Koran .
Good thing this is only a bumper sticker war, we'd have to take it seriously otherwise.
