Baghdad blast kills at least 13

The LA Times reports:

A bomb hidden in a box filled with birds exploded among shoppers strolling through a colorful pet bazaar Friday, killing up to 15 people, wounding dozens and raising fears that a stretch of relative calm in Iraq's capital has ended.

The enemy always gets his say in war. They're trying to recover, the only way terrorists know how.

Nothing follows.

They've already arrested four people as being responsible for it. Either they went out and chose the first four people walking by on the street, or there's no place for perps to hide any more after they do these atrocities.

Or the authorities might be taking the opportnity to round up Mookie's militias and blame it on them (and on Iran), but it does make sense that it would be a Mookie-ized operation.

(The American military really should release pictures of maimed and wounded animals/pets if they want to cause angst and despair in the bleeding heart American left.)

*spot* on. On our local paper's website in the same week, two stories: a 2yr old girl killed by her aunt in a bathtub and a dog abused by his sitter.

Which got more comments (by a long shot)? Which criminal was defended and excused?

Pathetic.

And lest someone take this attack as evidence that things are taking a turn for the worse in Iraq, almost simultaneously with the news came word of a similar attack on a courthouse in India, resulting in the deaths of “at least 13 lawyers.”

Okay, so probably at least half of you out there responded with “Sounds like a good start.” in response to the news of the lawyer deaths. But the situation in Iraq will have to be judged by the standards of that region, which are perhaps even a little worse than those of, say, Washington, D.C
