Drag

The Guardian has further developments on the Red Mosque story.

Security forces besieging a radical mosque in the Pakistani capital captured its top cleric Wednesday as he tried to sneak out of the complex in a woman's burqa, and more than 1,000 of his followers surrendered. ...

A security official, who spoke on condition of anonymity because he was not authorized to talk to the media, said authorities captured the mosque's top cleric, Maulana Abdul Aziz, after a female police officer tried to search his body, which was concealed by a full-length black burqa.

The officer began shouting ``This is not a woman,'' the official said, prompting male officers to seize him. ``The suspect later turned out to be the mosque's chief cleric,'' the official said. ... ``They have no options but to surrender,'' said Javed Iqbal Cheema, a government spokesman. ``The government is not into dialogue with these clerics.''

Nothing follows.

so if a radical moslem warrior is caught wearing a full women's clothing shell does this make him:

a transvestite?

an apostate?

a spy, worthy of execution, as per the geneva convention?

a pervert?

a coward?

inquiring minds want to know..

How can Islamists in drag not be hip Progs? Soon, burka queens will be added to the GLBT org rosters as a protected permutation. Ours is not to question motivation if this is a behavior of exotics and anti-modernist/westerners.

And it certainly isn't our place to ban the niqab and burka and put our fascist security concerns over a female's right to have to dress submissively in a head-to-toe shroud for the barely living on pain of whipping and death.

Yon has invited everyone to use his Baqubah post to get the word out, described below.

His concern is the MSM Blackout of the matter.

Seems to me if a Blogstorm was created, the MSM would cover that, at least, and in so doing, bring attention to this atrocity thus far ignored.

Perhaps Pajamas Media could play a part in getting this started?

Update on “Bless the Beasts and Children”

"Although I can’t answer to the cause of the problem, I humbly offer permission to media outlets to republish excerpts of the dispatch or the dispatch in its entirety, including my photographs from the story (if used as they are in the dispatch) at no cost during the month of July 2007. I only ask that the site receive proper attribution and that any publication taking me up on the offer email the website with the details.

If much of mainstream media does not recognize barbarity, clearly their readers can and do. Readers throughout the world might consider contacting their local papers and favorite websites with the link to this update. The story is very important in that it is well-documented with photos and video, and the Iraqi and American soldiers who were present are named and easily reachable. Those mainstream reporters currently in Baqubah could readily take up the baton.

I wonder if this chap shaved his beard???

That would normally result in his head getting chopped off for not adhering to their brand of Islam.

Just asking.

I've never met braver Minutemen. I can hear the songs and tales now.
